Cylinder machining ready to go

Since the previous post, where we had had a set back with the contractor who was to machine the cylinders, we are pleased to announce that the latest contractor we have approached are more than happy to do the work and have come in with a very good price to do the job. The company is CMS-Cepcor at Coalville, who were the company that did a very good job of machining the extension frames earlier this year. After having on site meetings with the shift managers who will be responsible, we placed an order for the work and have provided the specially long taps for the holes that require tapping in the cylinder blocks. The cylinder castings were moved a few more miles up the M1 and everything is now set for work to start. They are scheduling the work to start in the next few weeks and we should have the castings machined ready for Christmas. A great Christmas present to finish off 2024 from what looked like being a bumpy year. With the extension frames already being on site after their machining and an order in place with CMS for the Racking plate angles (see previous news report) we are looking at seeing if CMS can assemble the front end for us ready to send to Tyesley as a complete assembly sometime in 2025.

We currently need £5,000 to ensure that we have the funds available to complete this work, so if you can help close the gap on this fund can you please join the Cylinder club by downloading an application form on the Support us page and sending it to the Treasurer or follow the link below to our Crowdfunder page where there is a project fund to donate to.
