Orders placed for the final assembly of the loco frames

With the front end appeal now fully funded we are pleased to announce that we have placed an order with Tyesley Locomotive Works (TLW) to assemble rest of the frames from just before the cylinders through to the buffer beam. The parts for the first part of this work (the front end) have been machined and assembled at CMS and with the final work there being nearly completed the parts will be on their way to Tyesley by the end of August. All being well the extension frames, cylinders, etc will be assembled and fitted to the main frames that are currently on site at TLW by the end of the year. The rest of the frames through to the buffer beam is to follow next with another order placed on TLW for this work which should continue on from the front end in January. The parts for this final section have been around for a while now so just want assembly. To cover the cost of this final section a new appeal has been raised (The Buffer beam appeal) to raise the £12,000 to complete this work.
