Final assemblies for the front buffer beam manufactured
Goodmans of Nottingham have manufactured the remainder of the fabrications for the front end of the frames. These comprise the two box sections which form the extremities of the buffer beam and the two angle trays that support the centre of the buffer beam and keep the frame spaced correctly. This means that we have all the angles and brackets to build the running plate from the front buffer beam to the drag box under the cab. We already have the running plate from the rear of the cylinders back to the footplate itself along with the splashers for the driving wheels and the buffer stocks for the buffer beam. The only parts still to be designed and acquired are the running plate from the outside of the rear of the cylinders forward including the drop plating at the front of the cylinders. Tyesley Locomotive Works have now got an order to start to assemble all the running plate from the cylinders back to the drag box.
